Anemia

Anemia is the condition of having less than the normal red blood cells or less than the normal quantity of hemoglobin in the blood which diminishes the capacity of the blood to carry oxygen. There are several causes of anemia and anemic patients may fatigue easily, become short breath, feel tired or develop palpitations often impairing their quality of life.

Transform Your Laboratory

Abbott’s core laboratory assays, combined with Hematology screening, provide a reliable, holistic view of patient health in the detection of anemia and identification of the cause. By measuring iron, ferritin, haptoglobin, transferrin and folate (or folic acid), anemia and its causes can be accurately distinguished through the identification of iron deficiency anemia, Vitamin B12 and folate deficiencies causing megaloblastic anemia leading to the right course of treatment.
