PRE-ANALYTICS SHOULDN’T LIVE IN PRE-HISTORY

UP TO 65% OF ERRORS HAPPEN IN THE PRE-ANALYTICS PHASE 1

30–60%
of lab professionals’ time is spent on admin tasks2

Manual Burden
Pre-analytics outside labs rely on complex manual processes, demanding precise record-keeping.

1 in 1400
samples go missing3

Lost samples
Lost samples in pre-analytics cause errors, delay diagnosis, and wasted resources
.

6 in 10
pre-analytical errors delay patient treatment4

Transport Conditions
Poor transport conditions risk sample integrity and delay diagnosis.

63%
of turnaround time comes from the pre-analytical phase5

Reception workload
Delivery surges at sample reception create bottlenecks, interruptions, and staff overload.

Streamline Complex Processes

Automate sample data collection from pickup to reception and reporting. Indexor simplifies pre-analytical workflows, boosting speed and operational efficiency.

SIMPLIFY STANDARD
OPERATING PROCEDURES

Indexor’s intuitive user experience makes it easy to adopt and align with standard operating procedures, supporting compliance throughout pre-analytics.

IMPROVING QUALITY
STANDARDS

Indexor captures critical sample data to help labs meet quality standards, improve traceability, and enable smarter, data-driven decisions.

FREE UP RESOURCES
AND CAPACITY

Faster, more accurate data collection reduces processing time and eases the burden of high sample volumes—giving your team room to focus.

THE TECHNOLOGY

iRACK
Sample Storage with Traceability

Holds up to 60 samples (10–17 mm diameter) or 10 non-blood samples in pots or cups. Each sample’s data is stored via RFID—enabling full traceability and streamlined lab operations.

INDEXOR MINI
Compact Module for Data Capture

A small-footprint module with optical sensors and a powerful processing unit that reads sample data and writes it directly to the iRack’s RFID—automating data capture at the source.

iLOGGER CASE
Monitored Sample Transport

An isothermal, UN3373-compliant case with built-in temperature and impact sensors. Supports up to 4 iRacks and logs transport data directly to RFID.

INDEXOR STANDARD
Automated Reception and Sample Management

Handles multiple iRacks with integrated software for sample prioritization, worklist generation, and LIS connectivity—supporting efficient and consistent check-in.

HOW INDEXOR WORKS

See how Indexor supports the full sample journey with minimal manual input while maintaining sample traceability, all powered by seamless data digitization.

KEY FEATURES

SAMPLE LOCATION IN IRACK

Automated recording of position when racking a sample
When a sample is scanned and placed into an iRack, its exact position is automatically recorded. This data is recorded in a database along with event timestamp, the iRack name, the Indexor name in use and, if available, the user ID.

TRANSPORT CONDITIONS LOG

Once an iRack is placed inside the iLogger case, transport monitoring begins automatically. The system tracks temperature, impact events, and total transport duration. All data is written to the iRack’s RFID and later transferred to Indexor.

AUTOMATIC ALERTS

After transport, placing the iRack into Indexor triggers automatic alerts based on recorded transport conditions. These pop-ups help lab staff quickly assess whether any samples may require attention due to temperature excursions or impact events—streamlining quality checks at reception.

LIS INTEGRATION

Indexor Standard supports direct integration with your Laboratory Information System (LIS). When an iRack is placed into the module, all samples are automatically checked in and registered in the LIS—removing the need for manual scanning, reducing errors, and saving time during peak delivery hours.

SORTING

Test Prioritization Made Easy
Indexor makes it easy to prioritize samples based on pre-configured test criteria. Once priorities are configured, Indexor automatically highlights pending samples that match those criteria at the top of the list. With a single click, all relevant samples are quickly and easily identified.

SEARCH

Locate samples with a blink of light
Need to locate a sample? Just search in Indexor. If the sample is in a connected iRack, a blinking LED near its position helps guide retrieval. If it’s stored externally, Indexor provides the rack name and exact slot number—making manual retrieval faster and more reliable.

WHY

  • Automatically register collected samples in LIS
  • Log when samples begin transport
  • Check in samples upon arrival
  • Activate orders
  • Identify STAT and priority samples
  • Communicate sample archival location to LIS
  • Automate sample discard notifications

WHAT IS NEEDED

One or Two communication channels:

  • Channel 1 - Indexor sends traceability messages to the LIS
  • Channel 2 - Indexor receives order messages from the LIS

ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) is a communication protocol used to transmit and receive information between the laboratory information system (LIS) and the Indexor system. It operates over a TCP/IP or Serial connection, with two active communication channels: Query and Rack. The protocol allows the Indexor system to share and manage information with the LIS, using distinct ports for each channel.

HL7 (Health Level Seven) is a protocol used for transmitting and receiving information between healthcare systems, such as laboratory information systems (LIS) and other medical devices. It operates over a TCP/IP connection and supports various communication channels.

HL7 messages are transmitted in single data blocks, enclosed in special characters.
